Ingredients 

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Filling

  • 1 cup char siu (Chinese BBQ pork), diced
  • 2 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoon water

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, warm water, sugar, and vegetable oil. Knead until smooth.
  2. 2. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. 3. In a pan, combine diced char siu, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch mixture. Cook until thickened.
  4. 4. Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it. Place a spoonful of filling in the center and seal the edges.
  5. 5. Place the buns in a steamer and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  6. 6. Steam the buns for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
