Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 kg Pork belly cut into large chunks
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dark soy sauce
  • 1 cup Shaoxing wine
  • 1 piece Ginger sliced
  • 3 pieces Star anise
  • 3 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 cups Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. Blanch the pork belly in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. In a large pot, heat the sugar over medium heat until it melts and turns a caramel color.
  3. 3. Add the pork belly to the pot and stir to coat with the caramelized sugar.
  4. 4. Add the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, ginger, star anise, and water.
  5. 5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, until the pork is tender and the sauce is thickened.
  6. 6. Serve hot with steamed rice.
