Hainanese Chicken Rice Recipe
A classic Hainanese dish featuring tender chicken and fragrant rice, served with soy sauce and chili sauce.

- 1 whole chicken
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 thumb-sized ginger, sliced
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Cucumber slices for garnish
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- Soy sauce for serving
- Chili sauce for serving
Boil the chicken in a pot with enough water to cover it. Add salt, ginger, and garlic. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Remove the chicken and let it cool. Reserve the broth.
In a pan, heat the vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant.
Add the jasmine rice and stir well. Pour in 4 cups of the reserved chicken broth. Cook until the rice is done.
Serve the rice with sliced chicken on top. Garnish with cucumber and cilantro. Serve with soy sauce and chili sauce.
