Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup water warm
  • 2 cups oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add vegetable oil and warm water. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the dough sticks until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
