Ingredients

  • 1 whole Chicken about 3-4 pounds
  • 4 cups Coarse Sea Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Chinese Five-Spice Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the chicken inside and out with the Chinese five-spice powder and sesame oil.
  4. Spread a layer of coarse sea salt on a baking tray.
  5. Place the chicken on top of the salt layer and cover it completely with more salt.
  6. Wrap the chicken and salt in aluminum foil.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 90 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before unwrapping and serving.
