Hey There, Welcome to Our Accessibility Statement
Thanks for stopping by! You’ve landed on the page where we talk about how everyone, and we mean everyone, should be able to use kabu-go.com.hk without fuss. Accessibility is more than just a checklist for us, it’s the idea that no one gets left out when it’s time to cook, eat, or scroll through a juicy pork belly recipe. Whether someone uses a screen reader, keyboard only, bigger text, or just prefers things simple and clear, we want to make sure they can find joy here too.
We didn’t make this site for tech bros or design awards. We made it for folks who love food, appreciate tradition, and don’t want to wrestle with clunky pages. So this page exists to let you know what we’re doing, where we’re doing okay, where we’re still working, and how you can help tell us when we mess up. Spoiler: Sometimes we do mess up, but we promise to fix it when we find out.
What Accessibility Means To Us
We believe food brings people together, but a good site should never leave someone behind. Accessibility is our way of saying, “Everyone’s welcome.” We don’t want fancy tools or slick features to get in the way of the most important part, sharing traditional Chinese food stories, meat recipes, and cultural goodness in a way that’s usable by anyone who wants in.
Maybe you browse with high contrast mode. Maybe you tab through links. Maybe you use speech to text because typing’s tough. Whatever works for you should work with us. That’s our goal. We’re not trying to be perfect. But we are trying to make this website better every time we update it. If one change means someone can find their grandma’s dumpling recipe easier, then it’s a win.
Even small things matter. Like making sure the links aren’t just “click here.” Or checking that the text has enough space to breathe. It’s like cooking: when you care about the little things, the result tastes better.
What We’ve Done So Far
We’ve rolled up our sleeves and tackled a bunch of stuff to make the site more friendly to more people. Below are some of the steps we’ve taken so far, some big, some tiny, but all part of the bigger idea.
- Alt Text for Images
All those mouthwatering food pics? We’ve added helpful descriptions. So screen readers don’t just say “image,” but actually tell folks what’s being shown. Braised pork belly shouldn’t be a mystery. - Clear Headings
We keep our titles straight and honest. That way, anyone using assistive tech can jump around without confusion. If the page is about beef noodles, that’s what the heading says. - Contrast and Color Choices
We avoid pale text on pale backgrounds or anything that makes people squint. Reading recipes shouldn’t hurt your eyes. We keep things sharp, clean, and visible. - Keyboard-Friendly Navigation
Every link, button, and menu can be reached by keyboard alone. Mouse broke? No worries. You can still scroll, search, and salivate. - Consistent Layout
Our pages don’t suddenly flip their structure. Once you get used to how things are laid out, it stays that way. Familiarity helps people move faster and more comfortably. - Text Resizing
Need bigger words? No problem. Our pages stay readable even if you zoom in a bunch. The design doesn’t break, and the recipes still look tasty.
We’ve tested across different browsers, devices, and settings. It’s a work in progress, but the effort never stops.
Things We’re Still Working On
Alright, confession time. Not everything’s perfect just yet. Some parts of kabu-go.com.hk still need more love. We’re fixing what we can, but like hand-pulling noodles, some improvements take time.
Here are a few areas we’re still tuning:
- Video Subtitles and Captions
If we add videos down the road, we’ll make sure they’ve got good captions and transcripts. No one should miss out on the sounds of sizzling oil or the story behind a dish. - Forms and Input Labels
We’ve kept our forms simple, but we’re reviewing them to make sure every field is clearly labeled, announced properly, and easy to use. - Mobile Screen Readers
Phones and tablets behave differently. We’ve done some testing but we’re still reviewing how well screen readers interact with menus, buttons, and popups on mobile devices. - Third-Party Plug-ins
We sometimes use tools made by others, for comments, galleries, or social buttons. We do our best to choose ones that care about accessibility, but we’re checking them more closely now.
We won’t stop just because most of the site works okay. That’s like quitting after marinating the meat, you’ve still got to cook it right. Every update comes with fresh testing, more feedback, and small but steady improvements.
If something feels off, broken, or just clunky, you can tell us. No shame, no fuss. We’ll listen and tweak things until they’re better.
How You Can Help Us Improve
We might run this site, but you help keep it growing. So if you notice a bug, an awkward link, or anything that makes your visit harder—drop us a note. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Just a few words saying what’s wrong and where it happened.
You can email us directly at: contact@kabu-go.com.hk
Want to be more specific? Here’s what helps us fix things faster:
- Page URL (copy and paste it!)
- What device you’re using (phone, laptop, tablet)
- What browser you’re on (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
- What went wrong (can’t click, weird layout, missing label)
We read everything ourselves, no bots or ticket numbers. We might not reply right away (sometimes we’re literally braising pork belly), but we promise we’ll look into every report.
Don’t be shy. Your feedback helps make this site work better for everyone, not just you. You’re doing us a favor by speaking up.
Accessibility Tools and Settings We Recommend
While we try to make things easy out of the box, here are a few tools others have found helpful when browsing kabu-go.com.hk:
- Screen Readers
JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack all work well with our site. We’ve tried to keep the layout clear so nothing gets buried or skipped. - Text Enlargement
Use your browser’s zoom feature (Ctrl + Plus or Command + Plus) to make text bigger without breaking the page. - High Contrast Mode
If you prefer stronger colors, many devices have built-in settings for high contrast or color inversion. Our color palette stays readable. - Keyboard Shortcuts
Tab, Shift + Tab, and Enter work across menus and links. No need for a mouse if that’s not your thing. - Browser Extensions
Tools like “Reader Mode” or “Accessibility Checker” add extra control. If a layout’s giving you trouble, those might help smooth things out.
We’re not promoting specific products, just sharing options folks use. Everyone’s setup is different, and the right mix depends on you. If you have tools you love that work well with our site, tell us. We’d love to include more ideas here.
Standards We Follow
We don’t wing this stuff. There are guidelines out there that help websites work better for more people, and we take them seriously.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 standards at the AA level. Those letters might not mean much if you're not in web design, but in plain words: it’s a widely accepted way of making sure digital content is usable by folks with different needs. Visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, you name it.
What that means here:
- Color contrast meets strong visibility rules
- Text can scale without breaking layout
- Links are clearly marked
- Videos (if/when added) will have captions
- Labels and inputs will be properly connected
- Navigation will be simple and predictable
Do we hit the mark every time? Not always. But every build goes through checks, and every feature is measured against real accessibility tools.
We don’t do this because someone told us to. We do it because we think food is for everybody. So the site should be too.
Who Works On This Stuff
Kabu-Go isn’t built by a big company. It’s just a small, hungry team with a big love for Chinese food and digital hospitality. Accessibility isn’t something we hand off to a department, it’s baked right into the build, like ginger into a good broth.
We’ve trained ourselves to write cleaner code, test with assistive tools, and fix what doesn’t work. We’ve taken courses, read guides, asked dumb questions (they weren’t actually dumb), and tested our own site like we were using it for the first time. Because sometimes you have to see things from another view to really understand.
And if we mess up? We fix it. The same hands that break things are the ones that put them back together.
Your Right To Access
Access isn’t a favor. It’s not a bonus feature or a gold star. It’s a right. You should never have to fight just to read a recipe, scroll a story, or use a website.
That’s why we welcome everyone here, no matter how you browse. Assistive tech, slow internet, big fonts, low vision, whatever you bring, we want the site to meet you halfway.
If something’s broken, we fix it. If we miss something, we try again. If you reach out, we listen. That’s how we grow, and how we honor your time.
No fancy slogans here, just a promise to keep working on it. Always.
